Ask yourself: how does this one tiny little lady will conquer a stage as huge as Nippon Budokan?
Come and see the answer for yourself!
Aimer will hold her first solo concert in Budokan this year. The event title is 'Aimer Live in Budokan 2017 "blanc et noir"'. Save the date and time: August 29th, 2017 starting 7 PM local time!
Members of the fan club and buyers of her best selection albums will get to buy the ticket faster than the rest of humans, as usual. Price doesn't seem to be different, though, which is 6,500 yen.
Are you coming?

Aimer released the Blu-ray DVD recording for her Budokan concert. The 'DIGEST' version of the video (a teaser, in a sense) is posted on her official YouTube channel: Track list: M01 TWINKLE TWINKLE LITTLE STAR M02 スピカ (Spica) M03 あなたに出会わなければ~夏雪冬花~ (Anata ni Deawanakereba) M04 星屑ビーナス (Hoshikuzu Venus) M05 Re:pray M06 カタオモイ (Kataomoi) M07 March of Time M08 蝶々結び (Chouchou Musubi) M09 us M10 holLow wORlD M11 LAST STARDUST M12 Brave Shine M13 花の唄 (Hana no Uta) M14 RE:I AM M15 zero M16 Stars in the rain M17 AM02:00 M18 ONE M19 六等星の夜 (Rokutosei no Yoru) I really like her stage arrangement and presence. A small, round stage. The instruments around her. The singer herself as a tiny but lovely figure dressed simply in black or white. It's a simple setup but brings out the best of her and her music. I guess it's time to hunt some videos.

The stage actually has two different rotating circle parts (band or aimer rotates) and there was some fancy LED work and elevated stage and other bits. It got kinda spoiled as during one of her songs everyone decided to use their smartphone like candles to wave.
I have yet had the time to watch my blu-ray yet, will update if I find anything interesting.

wildthing I didn't know that! I thought they were on the same platform. It's kind of a funny image in my head, though, lol. Hmm, too bad, that's a bit too much light at a time. I also watched ONE OK ROCK's concert footage and lighting the phone was coordinated in a specific song. Was that not the case with Aimer? I'd love to hear your updates, so looking forward to it!

wildthing Did you go see the concert or did you just buy the Blu-ray DVD? How was it? As far as I know, many artists are dreaming of performing in Budokan given the size of the stage. It is also my dream to see my favorite singers perform there, Aimer included. I hope it was amazing so that she will get more chances to sing in the future.

I was at the concert of course, of course it was great, using budokan as a 360 stage meant that everyone got to see her on stage clearly. I think she doesn't mind being seen, just doesn't want to be filmed for whatever reason. During the blanc half of the concert it was brightly lit. Yeah for many artist Budokan in Tokyo or Osaka-jo Hall usually marks a big accomplishment for the artists performing there. I will see her next year's tour, her tickets were really hard to get I'm sitting waaaaay back in NHK hall!

I didn't expect that because anime is a pretty specific niche. I heard that Budokan can contain as much as 14,000 people. I wonder how many came to her Budokan concert?

I would say overseas fans probably due to Anime, but here in Japan its probably due to her awards and collaboration with ONE OK ROCK as well. All her concerts have been sold out, so filling the venues isn't the problem. Because of this actually added an extra day in NHK hall because it was sold out.

It's a nice cycle now that Aimer is getting more recognition. She gets to collaborate with popular names, gets more people to listen to her, gets more awards, gets more listeners in return, and so on. She doesn't sing too many anime soundtracks, but the ones she sing for are very popular with specific fanbase (look at Fate and Natsume Yuujinchou). Her marketing team does a good job.
