When Aimer first started, she did a number of covers for other pop songs, notably the Western one. Her cover of Lady Gaga's Poker Face made her name known to the public.
Here is the video if you want to listen:
What do you think of the cover songs she made in the past? Do you miss it now that she doesn't sing those anymore?

I haven't really checked her cover songs. Tried Poker Face once and I thought she did a good job, but the overall song is not really my taste. I prefer the way she covers Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or Moon River.
She's not doing any covers again lately. That's good, but a throwback to the past would be fun imo.

There are actually albums consisting of her cover songs, but those were in the old days when she first started. They are not included in newer albums, so maybe people don't know much about the songs. I'm still working on listening to more of her cover songs.
For example this one:
It's kind of funny to hear Viva La Vida sounds so lazy, if that makes sense, lol. I see it as a song of fighting, so it just irks me that the beats become so slow.

Love her Moon River and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star covers as well. I prefer when she's singing songs like that myself. Not really into pop music.
That's one thing I love about Aimer, though. No matter what sound she approaches, she does it so well. I admire her versatility. When I first heard her through Rokutousei no Yoru and eventually Anata ni Deawanakereba (I watch quite a bit of anime), I never thought I'd hear her do something like Insane Dream, which I love.

rina Somehow I didn't know that Refrain ga Sakenderu is a cover. How did I miss that? Anyway, will check the original and cover song and will report soon! Why don't you try listening to the original song too, though? Worried that it's better than Aimer's version? lol. xD Enigma Blue Me too. The pop songs nowadays are also tough to cover (and boring, to a sense, because their styles are similar). I like that she's choosing older songs to rearrange because it brings the nostalgia with a touch of modernism. Aimer is really talented that way. <3

Listening to both this one and Ito made me appreciate even more then efforts Aimer puts into her covers. I really love Ito. I had the same problem as some of you with Viva la Vida at first, especially since I used to listen to that song quite a lot when I was way younger lol. After listening a few times it went away though, I guess her voice more than makes up for it ahah. I think it would be interesting to see her cover it again. Also wishful thinking but I would die for a cover of Kiyoura Natsumi's tabi no tochuu...

Kyogokudo thanks for the video, I'd never heard the original. Aimer's take is definitely more melancholy. Both are nice songs!
