On the movie:

Kajiura Yuki: Having watched the movie from a productive point of view at different stages of production, it was amazing to be able to see the final production. I could not have imagined how wonderful it turned out to be until I saw it. The snow that fell so gently, the way they could capture and recreate expressions so finely, and more importantly, the bugs…!”

Aimer: Ahh (sic)… for me, watching the battle scenes really touched me. I was engrossed in it completely! The fact that the characters had a few lines coupled with the music and the strategic silence left me with a deep impression. In the first scene where Shiro pulls the bow, the sound was so realistic that it made me feel as though I were watching a live-action movie instead.

On the music:

Kajiura Yuki: This time, for the 『Fate』series, it depicts most of Shiro and Sakura’s daily lives as well as the darkness that lurked beneath the seemingly peaceful veneer. To express the underlying need to continue moving forward, the music had to express strength. Conversely, I also wanted to express the feeling of a blooming love in the music that reflects the love that was blooming between the characters. This is a type of music that the 『Fate』series has not heard before

Aimer: In contrast with the narrow, small world that Shiro and the others live in, there was a battle going on that was larger than their lives. Keeping that in mind as I listened to the scene where Shiro and Sakura were talking whilst Hana no Uta played in the background brings tears to my eyes.

Kajiura Yuki: Hana no Uta is a song for the cherry blossoms season for sure. The lyrics are a little bit of a spoiler, but the production’s background image was also a bit of a spoiler, so I asked the production team, “Why not?” Isn’t this better?” (laughs)

Aimer: I was pulled in by the lyrics and felt like it was tugging at my heart. As a woman, I can sympathize with the feeling it emotes. It felt natural to be able to sing it and to express the feelings the song entailed.

Finally, on what to take note of in the movie:

Kajiura Yuki: The world of Shiro and Sakura, and the difference in the music during battle scenes!

Aimer: Kajiura-san was able to express the feeling of the cherry blossoms, I would be happy if you could listen to Hana no Uta to the end before leaving!
