One of the best things about music I discovered. I found them when I watched the live action adaptations of Rurouni Kenshin. Instantly in love with "The Beginning", I began to search for more songs. Officially addicted ever since. What's your story?

I was watching random AMVs at Youtube. Found ones where the music used were The Beginning, Answer is Near and Re:make. Fell in love with these songs right away (also I was amazed by Taka's English lol), and started searching for more songs.

janerudesu Haha yeah exactly I was surprised at his English too. The old concert videos showed his funny mispronounciation and he still has some of them in later songs, but it has improved a lot without a doubt. What do you think of their recent activity though? I know that many criticized them for trying to go Western so much that their songs are getting "boring".

Migi Honestly I have mixed feelings about 35xxxv and Ambitions. I do love Heartache and We are, but I was meh on the other tracks (ESPECIALLY Paper Planes and American Girls) Some of the songs are kind of weak in my opinion. But still, I love my boys and will continue to support them. I get that they experimented with new styles in music as they are trying to breakthrough the western market. And hey Taka said that they'll never abandon their roots. I feel sad that some fans have left them because of the changes

janerudesu I see. I still like 35xxxv better than Ambitions, but I've warmed up to the latter a lot more than the first time that I'm pretty comfortable listening to the whole album. (I don't think Paper Planes is that bad compared to American Girls hahaha). We Are Japanese live version was very moving. Makes me miss their stronger songs from the past. I know. I understand why some fans are angry (at some point I was there too), but to completely desert them just because of things like this makes me sad. Artists have to evolve to stay in the loop and this is one of their attempts. I still wish they keep their original style because that's what draws us in the first place. I saw some of the concert videos and I saw how the audience sings in Japanese following the song. This is a good example that they don't really need to change, imo. Have you listened to the Skyfall single?

Migi Even Taka dislikes American Girls haha too bad they had to promote the song lol Funny how most of the old fans have moved on to MFS. Taka did say that they will go back to their old style too, I think its the label that is making them produce songs like American Girls. I agree with you there! The fans know the lyrics by heart. When OOR came here last year, Taka was surprised that we were able to sing along the Japanese parts. He had this warm smile on his face while performing Heartache and even made a heart shape at the end <3 Yes I have. I really liked Right by your side, the Japanese part at the end was a surprise for me. There is this different impact when Taka sings in Japanese. That could just be me though lol

janerudesu What is MFS? It's certainly just not you about Taka singing in Japanese, though. As much as I love his English and how he can deliver them well, he produces magic when he sings in Japanese. I'm not kidding when I say that the best song of Ambitions album for me is the 2-minute secret track hidden in the Japanese version of the album. Haha, Taka should know better by now. That's why I also kinda hesitate to attend their international concerts. I feel like they are 'forced' to sing the English versions, while the ones I really want to hear is the Japanese versions. Maybe I will see them live at their home someday. <3

Migi MY FIRST STORY. Taka's brother, Hiro, is their vocalist. Glad it was not just me. There is something different when I hear him sing in Japanese. I first noticed it when I heard the English version of Heartache. The bridge in the English version felt bland to me. I agree! And I'm sure most fans would love them to sing in Japanese more too. Hopefully their 'introduction' ends in Ambitions era, and they will be given more freedom with their music this year. Happy New Year btw!

janerudesu Oh, right. I forgot that it's Hiro's band name. Are their songs any good? I also first heard of Heartache the English version. I was like, "uhhhhh wat?" haha. But then I heard the Japanese version (the live one in Yokohama Stadium) and I was like, "THIS is it" and that happened with some other songs too. Yes, yes! I hope 2018 will be a greater year for them. I think 2017 has been going well in terms of promotion and getting their name and faces known around the world. Once the Ambitions World Tour ends, I hope they get to rest and then sit down and make the type of songs who resemble themselves and rock the world away. Happy new year too!

Migi I don't know much of their songs, but my I like Missing You and Fukagyaku replace And they have a Dome Tour this year! I've been wishing for them to have a live at Tokyo Dome but they got something even better. They deserve a vacation after this. OOR please don't push yourselves too hard!
